Bits and Bobs

After a hectic few days, a quick chance to update everyone on what we’ve been up to here at SOS and give you the latest news.

Don’t forget, there’s still time (just) to support our runner Celine Ballantine when she runs in Edinburgh next month to raise funds for both SOS and Mind.  We’ve ordered Celine a fabulous T-Shirt (a run faster one obviously!) and will put some pictures up on the day of the run.  Thank you Celine and our donors so far.  If you want to support SOS, the link is: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/silenceofsuicide

Michael and I spent a few minutes speaking at Portsmouth University this week about the work of SOS at the ALT conference (Law Teachers).  We met representatives from many Universities and as a result have enquiries about SOS events from Chester, Greenwich and Plymouth and we will update you as and when these have been planned.

We also met ex premier league footballer Vincent Pericard who is also doing some amazing work in the field of mental health, having struggled with depression and anxiety, especially since his injury enforced retirement at just 29 years of age.  We’re hoping to team up with Vincent in the future so watch this space.

We’ll soon be in a position to announce SOS events in Bristol and Exeter.  Again, keep coming back to our site for updates.

A reminder that in conjunction with Norman Wright of the Wright Initiative, there will be 2 SOS meetings on 24 April in Nottingham .  The first meeting is 1pm til 3pm and the second from 6 pm until 8pm.  Please reserve your free space by clicking on: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sos-silence-of-suicide-the-wright-initiative-april-2017-afternoon-tickets-31419071288 (for the afternoon) and https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sos-silence-of-suicide-the-wright-initiative-april-2017-evening-tickets-31419602878 for the evening.

Finally, on our home page you’ll see a link to a review request.  This is for anyone who’s attended an SOS event to complete and we appreciate all your feedback.  All replies are confidential.  Click on the following link to be directed and thank you in advance. http://www.sossilenceofsuicide.org/
