Prescriptions issued for Schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses in England have been demonstrated in map form which illustrate ‘hot spots’, with an area of Lincolnshire, North Kesteven, having the highest prescription rate.
Over a 5 year period up to September 2016, research suggests an increase of 3% per year in the prescribing rate, with East Anglia showing some of the most significant increases.

Prof Allan Brimicombe, one of the researchers from UEL, said: “The pattern is not uniformly spread across the country.”
He suggests this could be due to “environmental effects” such as different rates of drink or drug abuse.
Prof Brimicombe told the BBC: “The top one is in the Lincolnshire countryside and there are others in the countryside.”
Yet another area within the field of mental health that is showing a concerning increase.
