SOS Present Carer of the Year Award

SOS – Silence Of Suicide, co-founders, Michael Mansfield and Yvette Greenway were special guests at the Pride of Rugby Awards, held at Coombe Abbey Hotel, to present the Carer of the Year Award to Warwickshire Young Carers Project.

Warwickshire Young Carers Project works with Carers from the age of 8 upwards and aims to help improve the lives of young carers across Warwickshire, by support young carers in their caring role, giving them an opportunity to relax and take a break, and help them to realise their own dreams.

Yvette Greenway, one of the co-founders of SOS – Silence Of Suicide believes the Warwickshire Young Carers Project were well deserving of their award as they carry out such imperative work in the area.

She said: “We would like to send our congratulations to Warwickshire Young Carers Project who does such fantastic work across the whole of Warwickshire.

“With sustained cuts to so many vital services by successive governments, we are all, either collectively or individually becoming carers, with responsibility for people and situations that once upon a time only professionals would be assigned to, which makes this award even more important.

“It was fitting we presented an award in the Warwickshire area, as it wasn’t far from here that our first ever SOS – Silence Of Suicide initiative was held in July 2015 in Leamington Spa.”

Yvette also congratulated the runners up for the Carer of the Year Award.

She added: “SOS – Silence of Suicide would also like to say well done to the other finalists, The Hummingbird Centre and The Chapel, Newbold who were up for the award and would have also made worthy winners.”
